Year 3

Welcome to Year 3, an exciting year

The pupils have finished their Key Stage 1 chapter and begin their journey into Key Stage 2. The children will embed what they learnt in Key Stage 1 as well as develop their learning further through the broad, balanced and creative Year 3 curriculum.

In Year 3, children will become more independent and self-aware and develop their decision-making skills. We will identify where they are now, re-establish effective learning behaviours and move them forward so that, by the end of the year, they are in the best place they can be to face the challenges of the year ahead. We really want them to make the most of every opportunity and to learn from their mistakes.

At St. Clement’s, everything we do and say is underpinned by the Gospel values. Our mission statement: Growing together in love and learning, forms part of the day and is central to the ethos of our school.

RSE in Year 3

Module 1: Created and Loved by God

LKS2 Module One: Created and Loved by God explores the individual. Rooted in the teaching that we are made in the image and likeness of God, it helps children to develop an understanding of the importance of valuing themselves as the basis for personal relationships.

Module 2: Created to Love Others

LKS2 Module 2: Created to Love Others explores the individual’s relationship with others. Building on the understanding that we have been created out of love and for love, this module explores how we take this calling into our family, friendships and relationships, and teaches strategies for developing healthy relationships and keeping safe both online and in our daily lives.

Module 3: Created to Live in Community

LKS2 Module Three: Created to Live in Community explores the individual’s relationship with the wider world. Here we explore how human beings are relational by nature and are called to love others in the wider community through service, through dialogue and through working for the Common Good. In Life to the Full Plus, further exploration of careers and money lead to understanding that true happiness comes from knowing God’s love and finding our identity and worth in Him.
